If you are interested in German politics and the coalition process there you may be interested to read about the lastest trend of the Green party and the Conservative joining forces to form a government - despite previously have very differing political outlooks.

As it just happens... I've written a blog about this here: http://stephenmadden.wordpress.com/2008/04/17/schwarz-grun-coalition-in-hamburg-sig/ ;)

I completely agree with the part of your post that talks about how you didn't fully understand the German election until we simulated it in class. Reading it on paper or having it explained to me by word was a bit confusing. But seeing the way it worked out and performing a mock election allowed me to further grasp and understand the German election. Great post.

Actually, while the law required Canadians to prove citizenship before being allowed entry into the US, customs officials rarely requested to see proof of citizenship prior to 9/11. For the most part, they'd just wave suspected Canadians on through.

You shouldn't believe everything CNN says. For at the very least the past 20 years, Canadians entering the States by ground (car, train...) had to prove they were Canadian. While they didn't need a passport or visa, they did need an offical document (driver's license, birth certificate or medical card). It's easier for Canadians to enter the States then most but that doesn't mean they can just waltz in either. So yeah, still not fair to Mexicans though.

it would have been better if you asked the same from LTTE or bush.

sri lankan govt is killing LTTE, not innoccent ppl with far more valid resons than the reason the bush had in killing ppl in iraq. Infact, govt is rehabilitating most of the areas that were rescued from LTTE during last year. because of this favolrable approach, most ppl (tamil, muslim, sinhala) in LTTE areas are coming towards govt areas to have a better life, and they are treated very well.
try to investigate better when writing such blogs in the future at least.

As a country ready for positive growth and modernization, Sri Lanka having issues over currency and whether or not to have the current ruler's face on that currency is not that big of an issue. Even if the Tamil Tigers somehow got a sort of separatist group symbol on the currency (which is highly unlikely) this would not effect the economy in any way. I feel that the nation is more concerned with strictly economic growth without worry over what the mode of economic exchange looks like. I feel that the best possible solution would be to, if a change of currency look were to occur, throw the face of a past ruler on there rather than that of a new one that does not yet necessarily have holistic national support. Basically, Sri Lanka must first economically grow before it worries about the political repurcussions of the image on the currency.
